F*Em

My first attempt at fashion design, well sort of. I made this shirt for a friend. He has a new life motto which is represented in this shirt. In an attempt to keep this blog clean, I'll just say the motto is a sort of "I'm right and everyone else is wrong" kind of thing. I stenciled out the letters and used gold fabric paint to fill them in. Fabric paint is really fun!
If I were to do this again I would make sure the letters were straighter in line with the collar. This is where it's obvious I'm not detail-oriented.

Urban Outfitters Sale

Urban is having another sale. I feel like they're sending me sales updates every other day now. The dresses are really cute, but for some reason I'm drawn to the ones that are still over $100 even when marked down. These bags are on sale too. I've been meaning to get a bag that is blue with brown leather, I think that combination is so perfect.

Beauty in the Concrete City

I'm going to be in and out a lot the next couple of days. I'm actually going to Chicago tomorrow (again...) for the weekend to visit some cousins and move some furniture into my new apartment. But real quick...

I found this on Etsy and thought it was so cute and simple. Dlajean has only 2 paintings in her Etsy store but I love this one. I really love flowering trees.

Happy 4th!

The 4th of July is my favorite holiday. It's totally relaxed, doesn't produce any of the hype that some other holidays do, usually involves a barbeque, and of course fireworks. I'll be on a roof in Astoria, Queens all day, so have a great day!

Corners

I stumbled onto the Flickr group "Corners of My Home" and think some of these photos are fantastic. It's as if they are each a photographic still life. Why go through all the trouble of getting out the charcoal or the paints or whatever, when you can just snap a camera?Ha, ok that last one's mine. Trying to get my photo skills up to par. Clearly, I'm not there yet.

Wipe Your Feet Gladly

Ooh, these are really pretty. And not as kitchy as the decorative ones from Urban Outfitters. From Pylones.

Plastic Chair

Friends of mine in Astoria, Queens have about 10 of these chairs for when they have comany. Because they stack up so well, it makes them easy to keep them in one corner of their kitchen (granted the kitchen then looks very bachelor-padesque and includes a bike rack, tools, and a dartboard). I just thought these chairs re-invented were kind of fun to look at.

Early Morning Magazines

For the first time in a long time, probably since I had to catch a 6am flight to NY from Chicago, I was up at 5 this morning. I couldn't sleep. I think it's the stress of moving so soon, and I'm having a situation with my roommate in an attempt to sublet my room for the month of August. I'm not sure why, but I always end up un-befriending roommates as I leave them. This time, however, I'm confident it wasn't my fault.

Anyways, the light is so different when it's that early, I'd almost forgotten. If only I had a coffee maker, I'd be drinking coffee right now. Oh, and last night I attempted to scale down my book and magazine collection. I'm wondering if there's anyone out there with an interest in magazines like Jane, Lucky, Domino and Nylon? I think I have every issue of almost all of these since at least January. Sarah, form Favourito is giving away an Australian magazine, which made me think someone might want these, especially if you're in another country.
Sorry, gotta keep my "Paying for Graduate" school book. Haven't quite read through that one yet :)

Lucia Johnson Prints

I love these prints by Lucia Johnson. The originals are paintings made on layers of glass and wood, so shadows show trough and make the images sharper. The effect is really cool.Hula CowboyLight Showers

Weekend Fun: Brooklyn, Anthropologie and Puppies

I visited Prospect Park for the first time the other day, and am sad I didn't go there before my last month in New York. It's awesome! There are designated bbq spots and everyone is so relaxed, and it's less crowded than Central Park.

How cool is this Princess and the Pea display at Anthropologie?Only in New York. This poor guy looks so bored. (At Forever 21)
