Maria's Bungalow on AT

Catching up on my HouseTours on Apartmentherapy this morning, I came across Maria's Oh So You Bungalow. It is waaaaay too colorful for my taste (you should really check it out), but 2 more subdued photos really caught my eye. I would never have had the thought "Hm, I think I'll paint birds on the side of my house today..." but how cute are they? This looks like a vacation spot to me. I really like this area in the dark.

Tartan

I haven't picked up a new Domino yet, but blogger Frolic! posted about a spread they have on Tartan. I think Tartan is just a name for this kind of fabric/design also known as plaid (but I could be wrong). Either way I'm loving this trend for fall and trying hard to find the right ways to incorporate it into my wardrobe. Never thought to incorporate it in the home as well.

Ditte Isager Photographer

Found this via This is Glamorous. I feel like these are dark and light versions of each other, and I can't figure out which one I like more. I love the placement of the three mirrors in the top image. From photographer Ditte Isager.

Domino Living Rooms

I can't believe that some people actually have living rooms that look like this from Domino. These look like show rooms for furniture stores or something. One day I will have a living room this colorful!

Lori Pickert's Home via Cookie

Cookie Magazine writer/editor Joanna (A Cup of Jo) posted on this shoot done in a barn retreat in Illinois. Now Illinois ain't got much going on, except for Chicago of course, as far as I know, but this barn is beautiful. I am really getting into subdued colors and design that is translatable to any time period. I love the lack of modern appliances, and uncluttered look of the house.

Your Things Can Be Pretty

I really liked finding this considering I'm on such a tight budget when it comes to decorating. From At Home At Home, and on Style at Home, these 7 tips for making your space cooler are pretty handy.

Fill in the Cat

Found this on Bloesem and thought it was good for today. I'm keeping an eye on Nerms because she is sick, and I can't get her to the vet until tomorrow. Between that, fixing my computer, and beginning to study for a calculus placement exam I have at the end of August, I am pretty busy. Happy Monday :)

Rococo

I'm obviously late to join the trend, but I'm noticing a lot of this style being used in various "arenas". Kitchen items, upholstery, jewelry and fashion are all using rococo style. I think I need at least like a pillow or something with this design so that I can get with the trend.

Seaweed

These are so pretty. John Derian Seaweed plates. I'm still thinking I might be able to make decoupage plates like this a DIY. These came from Lille in Chicago, and would make a great wedding/engagement gift I think for anyone.

Open Sesame

I really have a thing for open shelving in kitchens. My sister, who's moving in November, asked me if I'd help her with kitchen decorating ideas and the first thing I said was "open shelves!" She had no idea what i was even talking about. These are like music genres:country, metal, kitchy, and modern.

Plastic Chair

Friends of mine in Astoria, Queens have about 10 of these chairs for when they have comany. Because they stack up so well, it makes them easy to keep them in one corner of their kitchen (granted the kitchen then looks very bachelor-padesque and includes a bike rack, tools, and a dartboard). I just thought these chairs re-invented were kind of fun to look at.

D Leshem on Flickr

Apartmenttherapy posted today about D Leshem's Flickr photos which are tagged AT. I checked them out and saw that he had saved some of my own favorite images posted on AT from over the past couple of months. Here a few shots I particularly like. They each have a really cool-looking credenza, and stylish way of incorporating the credenza and/or tv into the room. I love that.Hey, check it out...it's the chair that the psychiatrists in Soprano's sits on! (to the side of the couch above) I LOVE it in this darker color, is that navy?PS: I apologize for not citing where these images came from other than from Flickr. If you recognize whose apt. it is please let me know!

Inside Out

I drink more coffee than tea, but I'm really liking the idea of inside out designs. These cups look like the decorative feature is on the "wrong" side, meant specifically for the one drinking something out of it. I wonder if this idea can apply to any other kinds of household items ...Wee Woosh Luving Cup from Rockettstgeorge.uk.com
